99mac @ CeBIT 2004. CeBIT is the largest IT-exhibit in the world with over 6.600 booths this year and over 700k visitors. We missed Apple, LaCie, Seagate, Maxtor, Canon and many more this year - but it's still really too much to see it all. We spent two days and saw 25% of the booths. Pictures by Mats & Martin Björnström from 99mac.
Our journey starts in Stockholm, Sweden were we live. We rented a Lexus LS430 at AVIS to take us to Hannover Germany - about 700 miles southwards.
Four hours later we got stopped by the highway patrol but they didnt have one of those lasers - they just checked if we were sober.
Time for a fillup. We pay $4.80 per gallon over here.

A quick stop at the Apple Pro Store in Malmö that opened last year

Germany and Autobahn at last. No speedlimits and 150mph on the speedo.
Finally at CeBIT! We take a picture on the same spot every year.
BMW "connected drive" with a customer service representative only a button away. Using the onboard GPS they can locate ATM:s, restaurants and more and guide you to the right spot.
New Nokia 630 and Siemens M65 in the Vodafone booth.
Lots of people in the Vodafone booth were they showed us their new "music store" that competes with iTMS. The music is bought and downloaded using UTMS cellphones.
New Nokia 7700 looks like something from Star Wars
Cellphones from Sony Ericsson
Visitors felt the real formula 1 feeling with this hydraulic simulator. A real crowd pleaser!
Using 3D glasses and projectors we felt like Michael Schumacher
Ugly G5 lookalikes at the SuperPower booth
Is this the ugly cousin of G5?

This chassi use the G4 MDD airflow intakes
Another G5 lookalike
WTF - this is the closest G4 clone we have ever seen

Worlds first 55" LCD TV was huge - I want one of these as my Cinema HD replacement :)
80" Plasma TV is huge!
Swedish computerfirm SwedX showed ugly computers made of wood. We felt ashamed coming from Sweden :)
The idea of using wood is actually not that bad but the detail quality was not good
External harddrives with built-in cardreaders and USB hubs
iTank - have you seen a package looking like this before? iPod anyone?
Hey - lets use a Porsche or a BMW X5 as models for our new chassis. I guess that the lawyers in Stuttgart and Munich will love this
Sony showed their own european music store - everybody wants to copy iTMS these days. Even CocaCola have started their own store over here (not for mac users though)
Mats looks at the new Nikon D70 digital SLR
The D70 felt nice and "heavy" - much better finish than the Canon EOS 300D.
